How much is 100 pips in dollars?

On EUR/USD, 100 pips equals $1,000 on one standard lot (100,000 units), $100 on one mini lot (10,000 units), and $10 on one micro lot (1,000 units). The same is true for any pair quoted in US dollars — GBP/USD, AUD/USD, NZD/USD — because one pip is fixed at $10, $1, or $0.10 per lot size. The only wrinkle is pairs like USD/JPY, where the pip value floats with the exchange rate.

The one-line conversion

Dollars = number of pips × pip value for your lot size. For pairs where the US dollar is the quote currency (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, NZD/USD), pip value in a USD account is fixed: $10.00 per standard lot, $1.00 per mini lot, $0.10 per micro lot — regardless of where the pair is trading. So 100 pips is 100 × $10 = $1,000 on a standard lot, and 100 × $1 = $100 on a mini.

If you would rather not do the multiplication, our free forex pip calculator converts any pip count into dollars for any pair and lot size, including the floating JPY pairs.

Pips-to-dollars table (USD-quoted pairs)

This table covers EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, and NZD/USD, where 1 pip = 0.0001 and the dollar values are fixed:

PipsStandard lot (100,000)Mini lot (10,000)Micro lot (1,000)
10 pips$100$10$1.00
50 pips$500$50$5.00
80 pips$800$80$8.00
100 pips$1,000$100$10.00
200 pips$2,000$200$20.00

Read it in either direction: a 100-pip move you catch is worth those amounts, and a 100-pip move against you costs those amounts. The chart distance is identical — the lot size decides the dollar outcome.

Skip the table: the free ClaudeQuantAlgo pip calculator takes your pair, lot size, and pip count and returns the dollar figure instantly — including the rate-dependent JPY math below.

Worked example: 80 pips on GBP/USD

The JPY-pair caveat: 100 pips is not always $1,000

On USD/JPY, one pip is 0.01 (not 0.0001) and the pip is denominated in yen, so its dollar value floats with the exchange rate. Per standard lot, one pip = 0.01 × 100,000 = ¥1,000, which you convert to dollars by dividing by the current rate:

Same 100 pips, different dollar amounts — and the figure keeps changing as the rate moves. USD/CAD and USD/CHF work the same way (pip in the quote currency, divided by the rate), just with a 0.0001 pip. The full mechanics are in our pip value guide and the reference pip value table.

Why this number matters before you trade

Converting pips to dollars is how a stop-loss becomes a known risk. A 50-pip stop on EUR/USD risks $5 on a micro lot, $50 on a mini, and $500 on a standard lot — the identical chart setup, at ten-times steps of risk. Choosing the lot size after converting the stop distance to dollars is the difference between deciding your risk and discovering it.

Leverage cuts both ways, and a market that gaps through your stop can cost more than the planned amount. Regulator-published data consistently shows most retail forex and CFD traders lose money. Common questions

How much is 100 pips in dollars?
On a pair quoted in US dollars such as EUR/USD or GBP/USD, 100 pips is $1,000 on one standard lot (100,000 units), $100 on one mini lot (10,000 units), and $10 on one micro lot (1,000 units). On USD/JPY the value floats with the rate: at a rate of 150.00, 100 pips on a standard lot is 100,000 yen divided by 150.00, about $666.67.
How much is 80 pips in dollars?
On EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, or NZD/USD, 80 pips equals $800 on a standard lot, $80 on a mini lot, and $8 on a micro lot, because one pip is fixed at $10, $1, and $0.10 respectively for those lot sizes in a USD account.
Is 100 pips worth the same on every currency pair?
No. It is fixed only when the US dollar is the quote currency. On USD/JPY, USD/CAD, and USD/CHF the pip is denominated in the foreign currency, so you divide by the current exchange rate — on USD/JPY at a rate of 150.00, 100 pips per standard lot is about $666.67, and at 160.00 it is $625.
How do I convert pips to dollars quickly?
Multiply the pip count by the pip value for your lot size: $10 per pip on a standard lot, $1 on a mini, $0.10 on a micro for USD-quoted majors. For JPY pairs, first divide 1,000 yen by the current USD/JPY rate to get the per-pip value. Our free forex pip calculator does both automatically.
